Matt Fiuza
Matheus Fialho Fiuza (known as “Matt” and originally from Rio de Janeiro) is an accomplished scenic and production designer renowned for his contributions to theme park entertainment and legitimate theatre. He holds the distinction of being the first Brazilian Art Director at Walt Disney World. His professional journey spans designing immersive events like Busch Garden’s Annual Food and Wine Festival to the Opening Ceremony for the Special Olympics. With a rich design portfolio, Matt has played a pivotal role in creating captivating experiences and shows for iconic properties including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Mattel’s Monster High Dolls, and Disney’s Frozen Franchise. His artistic vision breathes life into beloved stories making him a pioneer in bringing enchanting worlds to reality.
In 2017, Matt was part of the creative team for Busch Gardens’s “Turn it Up” which won the IAAPA’s Most Creative Sports/Stunt Show Brass Ring Award. In 2019, he was the Art Director for the “Green Army Drum Corps” at Walt Disney World which won the Brass Ring for Best Atmosphere/Street Show Performance Act. Matt’s theatrical work has been recognized twice by The Kennedy Center Collegiate Theatre Festival and was featured in Young Designer’s Forum and 2014’s Scenic Artist Showcase at USITT. Rowan University has honored Matt with their highest institutional award in the Artistic field, the Anne B. Ward Medallion for Creative Excellence.
Beyond his creative endeavors, Matt finds fulfillment in mentoring the next generation, sharing insights, and inspiring students to turn dreams into reality. Matt’s artistic curiosity, coupled with a passion for storytelling, continues to shape the landscape of theatrical design and themed entertainment.
